Fenerbahçe’s coach Kartal surpasses his predecessor Yanal

Fenerbahçe put on a five star performance against Gaziantepspor on Saturday night at Kamil Ocak Stadium. The Yellow Canaries won by a five-goal margin and moved into first place, having played an extra game over rivals Besiktaş, which played on Sunday.Emmanuel Emenike, Dirk Kuyt, Moussa Sow and Emre Belözoğlu all found the back of the net, while Gaziantepspor failed to register a single goal. Gaziantepspor are now in seventh place with 27 points in 20 games. Fenerbahçe won their fifth consecutive away match with the win. With this win Fenerbahçe head coach İsmail Kartal surpassed his predecessor Ersun Yanal in terms of points at this stage of the season. Fenerbahçe have collected 46 points coming out of the 20th week. Last year they collected 44 points in the same period with their former coach Yanal. The achievement is nothing to be sniffed at considering Fenerbahçe were relatively comfortable winners of the Super League last season.Kartal said: "We prepared for the match very well. During the week, we qualified for the quarterfinals of the Turkish Ziraat Cup thanks to a four-goal win. We started well in the first half against Gaziantepspor, but after the first goal we could not play affectively. We gave our rivals several positions. In the second half we made changes in terms of tactical improvement. We captured the domination of the game, and we scored goals as a result. We scored the goals that we could not last week. We could have won a more lopsided victory. You can't win all the time by playing well. You can win on these types of pitches even if you don't play well." On Selçuk Şahin's contribution in the second half, Kartal said: "We are a team consisting of 24 players. Every footballer can play. We give opportunities to play young players too. Every footballer's duty is to be ready to play every time. We managed this, and everyone support each other in our squad."
