Semifinals drawn in top tiers of European club football


The semifinal matches for Europe's top football tiers UEFA Champions League and Europa League were determined Friday through a draw held in the UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland.

Accordingly, the UEFA Champions League draw for the semifinals has paired Spanish club Real Madrid with English Manchester City.

Bayern Munich will play against Atletico Madrid, who eliminated Barcelona in the quarterfinals and stunned the football world.

The first leg of the Champions League semifinal matches will be played on April 26 and 27 and the second leg matches will be played on May 3 and 4. The winners will meet for the final match at San Siro Stadium in Milan, Italy on May 28.

The draw for UEFA Europa League Semifinal paired reigning Europa League winners Sevilla with Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk and Villarreal paired with Liverpool.

The semifinal matches will be played on April 28 and May 5. The winners of the semifinals will meet in the final to be held at St. Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland on May 18.
