Ronaldo hits 100 as Ancelotti calls for video referees

Real Madrid supporters were hailing another incredible Champions League night from their all-time record scorer Cristiano Ronaldo yesterday morning. His hat-trick sent them through to their seventh straight Champions League semi-final and Spanish daily sports newspaper Diario AS's front page summed up the mood declaring: "Cristiano demolishes Bayern."

Asked about the whistles he received in the first half of the game that inspired his finger to the lips goal celebration as if to silence his critics he said: "I don't want a street named after me I just want them to not whistle at me in my own stadium. Ronaldo's hat-trick took his Champions League tally to 100 goals. He scored a total five goals in the quarter-final tie as Real Madrid won 6-3 on aggregate, having won the first game in Munich 2-1 from his double.

No one knows what Ronaldo is capable of more than Bayern Munich coach Carlo Ancelotti, who once said having the Portuguese in his team was like having a goal start.

But he preferred to focus on the match officials who played their part in Bayern's exit by allowing two off-side Real Madrid goals and sending Arturo Vidal off for a second bookable offence that was not even a foul.

Ancelotti called for video refereeing to be introduced, saying: "There should be a referee with more quality in a game like this or put the video referee because there were too many errors."
