Beşiktaş inch closer to title as rivals fall behind

Super League holders Beşiktaş extended their lead at the top to seven points following a 3-2 win against Adanaspor at Istanbul's Vodafone Arena Monday. Playing at home, the Black Eagles found themselves facing a resilient Adanaspor side and had to wait until the 80th minute to find the match winning goal through defender Dusko Tosic. Beşiktaş was up 1-0 in the 11th minute, thanks to a goal from striker Vincent Aboubakar. However, relegation candidates Adanaspor had other ideas and equalized in the 24th minute. In the second half, leaders Beşiktaş mounted pressure and got their second goal in the 51st minute as the in-form Anderson Talisca calmly finished from the penalty arc. Adanaspor were quick to react again as they leveled the score 2-2 in the 66th minute, with the help of their Senegalese striker Magaye Gueye. Tosic sealed the deal for Beşiktaş in the 80th minute when the defender's header gave Beşiktaş three crucial points in their title campaign. With the win, Beşiktaş now have 64 points, seven more than second-placed Medipol Başakşehir. Earlier on Sunday, Fenerbahçe's 1-0 win over archrivals Galatasaray took their tally to 53, good enough for the third spot in the league. Galatasaray, on the other hand, remain fourth as their poor performance in the league continued.
