Erdoğan’s former football team IETT crowned world champions for 4th time

The football team of the Istanbul Electric Tram and Tunnel Company (IETT) was crowned on Wednesday world champions in the 2017 World Corporate Cup Games organized in the UK's Everton.

The team that had President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as a captain in the 1970s, advanced to the finals in the competition after beating Wales' AHK-B in the quarter finals and England's HMS in the semi finals.

In the final match, the Istanbul team defeated German Greenefte 3-0 to be crowned the winners.

The games had 22.500 competitors from 25 countries from five continents and over a million participants.

The World Corporate Cup Games were first organized in 1988 in California.
