Galatasaray will sign Brazilian midfielder Fernando Reges from Manchester City, the club announced on Thursday.

In a statement, the club said it had begun official talks with Manchester City to buy the player's contract.

Galatasaray went through major personnel changes this summer, parting ways with Lukas Podolski, Wesley Sneijder, Semih Kaya and Sabri Sarıoğlu, as well as backup goalkeeper Sarıoğlu, as well as backup goalkeeper Cenk Gönen.

The Istanbul side added French striker Batefimbi Gomis, Brazilian defender Maicon, right-back Mariano and attacking midfielder Younes Belhanda.

The Lions crashed out of Europe early this season when Swedish underdogs Ostersunds knocked them out of the UEFA Europa League. It was Galatasaray's earliest ever European exit in the club's history.
