Qatari midfielder Adel Lamy joined a group of Syrian refugee children for a game of football in southern Turkey's Hatay Wednesday. The event was held as part of a four-day program organized by the International Charity and Development Association in the city's Reyhanlı district. The program, which ended Wednesday, featured a football competition, painting and traditional games for children. It brought smile to the kids' faces, all of who have suffered immensely due to the ongoing war in Syria. Speaking to Anadolu Agency Lamy said: "I am here to make them smile...The war in Syria has affected children the most and they are the real victims."

"I traveled here to give them moral support and experience their situation first hand," he added.

Apart from the Qatari footballer, 28 individuals from other countries, including Morocco, Spain, Algeria, Qatar, the U.K., the U.S., and Egypt also participated in the program.

The association's Deputy Chairman Necip Fazıl Aksoy said the program was aimed at promoting solidarity among Syrian families and children.
