Title defenders Beşiktaş to host Trabzonspor

It's a tough road ahead for the Eagles, but they'll keep fighting. After losing a critical derby against archrival Fenerbahçe 2-1 last week, Beşiktaş will host Trabzonspor this Sunday at Vodafone Park Stadium.

Beşiktaş have gotten over the defeat rather quickly, however, after winning their second match in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. The Eagles managed to shutout Germany's RB Liepzig to continue their impressive run in the contest of top-division European clubs.

The victory against Leipzig has put Beşiktaş in the driver's seat with six points, a full win apart from their competitors in Group G.

The win also has Beşiktaş holding on to the 34th spot in the UEFA rankings for club competitions, above Liverpool, which remains in 35th place following their 1-1 draw against Spartak Moscow.

Moving on to the Turkish league, Beşiktaş will host Trabzonspor this week with their new found confidence.

The Black Sea team, Trabzonspor, however also desperately need three points after a humiliating loss against Aytemiz Alanyaspor last week. Trabzonspor had taken a commanding 3-0 lead against Alanyaspor but the Mediterranean team managed a stunning comeback to win 4-3.

Beşiktaş will be handicapped against Trabzonspor because winger Ricardo Quaresma, defender Atiba Hutchinson and midfielder Oğuzhan Özyakup were shown red cards in their derby matchup versus Fenerbahçe and will not be eligible to play this week.

Coming into the seventh week of the TFF Super League, Beşiktaş are sitting in second place with 13 points. Meanwhile, Trabzonspor want to celebrate its 50th anniversary in the league by a winning title, but the team is in the ninth spot so far with eight points.
