Winless week for Turkish Super League's top 4

The top four teams in the Turkish Super League all went without a win as game week 20 closed. Current champion Beşiktaş kicked off the action Friday with a 2-2 draw against hosts Bursaspor. Bursa went 2-1 up in the first half, courtesy of an own goal from Beşiktaş striker Alvaro Negredo. The Spanish marksman, however, redeemed himself when he scored a last-minute goal to save Beşiktaş a point. On Saturday, Fenerbahçe hosted Gençlerbirliği but could not capitalize on playing in front of their fans. The 2-2 scoreline meant two back-to-back draws for Fenerbahçe, leaving them third in the league with 38 points. League leader Medipol Başakşehir shared the spoils with the league's second-bottom side Atiker Konyaspor on Sunday. A determined Konya side salvaged a 1-1 draw after trailing Başakşehir for more than 55 minutes. Başakşehir had gone up 1-0 in the 35th minute thanks to a goal by Emmanuel Adebayor. But Konyaspor remained firm and found an equalizer in the 92nd minute through Nejc Skubic. It could've even won the match if Orkan Çınar's free kick did not hit the crossbar in the final seconds. Despite the draw, Başakşehir continued its lead in the Super League with 43 points.

Also on Sunday, Galatasaray clashed with Sivasspor where a win could have taken them to the top of the tally. The Lions, however, were subjected to a humiliating 2-1 defeat at the Sivas Yeni 4 Eylül Stadium. After the win against Galatasaray, Sivasspor coach Samet Aybaba said: "I take a great pride in watching my team. I am sure our fans do, too. I am very proud of them.""Considering this team was built with a very modest budget, my players have performed incredibly."

Galatasaray coach Fatih Terim said: "Sivasspor played better than us and deserved to win. This performance does not do justice to our name. Galatasaray must not play this way. Maybe we could not handle the pressure brought on by the possibility of becoming the leader if we won here."

"Since I took over as the coach, we have played seven or eight matches and we have never played this bad. The title race will be very difficult. Each and every team is good and strong. We lost an important advantage. But we have to pick ourselves up as soon as possible," he said. Galatasaray is currently second with 41 points.
