Turkey faces Montenegro in FIBA European Qualifiers


Turkey's national basketball team will play Montenegro today in their first second-round match in the 2019 FIBA European Qualifiers.

The Crescent and Stars will face Montenegro in Group I in the Turkish capital Ankara at 8 p.m. local time.

Turkey qualified for the second round with 10 points in the first round, coming second in its respective group.

After playing Montenegro, Turkey will face Slovenia on Sept. 17. Turkey is in the same group as Spain, Latvia, Montenegro, Ukraine and Slovenia.

The three highest-placed teams from the group will qualify for the FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019.

The FIBA Basketball World Cup 2019 will be held in China from Aug. 31 to Sept. 15.
