TİKA contributes to state hospital units in Macedonia

A children's clinic in Macedonia renovated by the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TİKA) provides medical care for 40,000 children throughout the year. Running under the Skopje State Hospital of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius University, the children's clinic was thoroughly restored with the TİKA initiative. Ridvan Ibrahimi, the head of the Skopje State Hospital, said the hospital's capacity has increased and now serves 3,000 children each month. He said the local initiatives for the restoration were insufficient and TİKA covered the expenses. "TİKA projects increase the region's trust in Turkey. Not only from Macedonia, but also from all Balkan countries, the hospital welcomes children," he said. Around 80 percent of Macedonians benefit from public health services. "TİKA's initiative also attracted the private sector as it realized our request in an efficient way," Ibrahimi said. TİKA will also renovate neurology and intensive care units at the university hospital.
