Having existed in Tibetan tradition since ancient times, Nepal's singing bowl is currently used by many people for meditation and therapeutic purposes. Featured in the Nepalese Garden at EXPO 2016 Antalya, organized with 57 countries and serving as a meeting point for different cultures, Nepal's meditation bowls attract a great deal of attention from visitors. An official EXPO 2016 participator, Nepal's garden, located on a 3,600-squaremeter-area, continues to be an attraction center for the visitors. Along with many elements depicting the special meaning given to Hinduism and Buddhism on the "Way of Life," the Nepalese Garden has a Buddhist temple (stupa) and has drawn attention for its cultural elements as well as its traditional architecture.Visitors get the chance to see the characteristics of Buddhist beliefs in the stupa constructed in the middle of the garden in its original size, and watch and experience the therapy carried out using the singing bowl.Meditation trainer Rajesh Mangrati said that these bowls were 200 years old. "As you know, there were no medical tools and doctors - in the modern sense - at that time. People used to fill these bowls with water and they thought it gave them power and strength through vibes, and they felt it. As you know, people have seven chakras and these bowls are made of seven different metals."Showing the uses of the singing bowls on-site, Mangrati said there are two ways to use them by striking the rim of the bowl with a padded mallet or a stick. He recommended using the mallet for therapy, and the stick for meditation. Believing that these bowls had power, Mangrati said, "These bowls should not be seen as something that creates vibes by putting water in it. People should be informed about that. Those seeing it for the first time look at it as a toy, but it is not like that. We believe these bowls have power. If people believe in the power of the bowls, there are no problems, but if they approach it with prejudice, then it does not work."When used with mallets or sticks, the bowl generates a multi-layered sound at a certain frequency that can touch people's energy field. The sound coming out by rubbing the stick around the rim of the bowl is mostly used for therapeutic purposes. Trainer Rajesh Mangrati gave some suggestions regarding the usage of the bowl."Small bowls are used for meditation while the big ones are used for pain such as a back pain. Because, in back pains, it is believed blood is accumulated in that area and the vibes generating from the bowl scatter the accumulated blood and cure the area. Bowls also help people reveal the power already existing inside them."
