Norway issued red notice for alleged Istanbul suicide bomber's husband in July: report

Norway issued a red notice and international arrest warrant for alleged Istanbul suicide bomber Diana Ramazova's husband in July 2014, the Norwegian prosecutor in the investigation has reportedly told daily Hürriyet in an exclusive interview.

According to a news report published by daily Hürriyet on Saturday, the prosecutor Anne Karoline Bakken Staff said, the Norwegian Police Security Services had already started an investigation into Aluevitsj Edelbijev, the Chechen-rooted Norwegian citizen and spouse of Diana Ramazova, in 2013.

On January 6, 2015, a female suicide bomber detonated her vest at a police station in Istanbul's central Sultanahmet district, killing herself and a police officer, as well as injuring another.

Turkish authorities have not so far named the suicide bomber but many media reports identified her as Diana Ramazanova, an 18-year old woman of Russian origin. Ramazanova and Abu Aluevitsj Edelbijev allegedly met in Turkey, and were later married by a religious official in Turkey or Syria.

The couple is then believed to have joined ISIS in Syria, where Edelbijev was allegedly killed. After the death of her spouse, the widowed Ramazova is believed to have crossed the Syrian border back into Turkey and traveled to Istanbul, where she has allegedly carried out her suicide bomb attack.

"We have information that Edelbijev was killed in Syria, but we have no definite evidence. Now we know that he had a [religious] marriage. We already knew that he was married but we didn't know the name of his spouse. We had an international arrest warrant and red notice put out for him in July 2014," the Norwegian prosecutor in the investigation has reportedly told the Hürriyet daily.
