Suspected Picasso works smuggled into Turkey

Police seized two paintings, reportedly authentic works by Pablo Picasso, as they were smuggled into Turkey on Thursday. Five suspects attempting to sell the paintings were detained in the eastern city of Iğdır on the border with Iran yesterday. The paintings, titled "Venus," had three seals indicating they were sold to the Kuwait Museum in 1969 by the Louvre. Authorities are now examining the authenticity of the paintings.
