Turkey's lengthy border with Syria remains a favorite among smugglers of all types, from oil to electronics, but the latest find was a feather in the cap of the unscrupulous crowd. The Turkish Armed Forces announced Thursday that 150 parrots were seized from smugglers captured on the Turkish-Syrian border on Wednesday. The origin of the parrots are not known, nor how the birds were brought as far as Turkey from a country mired with a brutal conflict killing thousands, where getting out alive is a tough task for millions. But the exotic birds, which are not native to Syria, added to the long list of smuggled goods the army confiscated on Wednesday, along with 41 cellphones, 300 packs of cigarettes and six cattle.
