Mother and school bus driver in custody in young boy's murder case


The school bus driver sought by the police for the murder of 10-year-old Beratcan Karakütük was taken into custody on Sunday night, police reported.Police located the driver, Ersin Kaşıkçı, in a friend's house in Istanbul's Gaziosmanpaşa district, and took him into custody on Sunday. It was reported that the police managed to locate the murder suspect by monitoring his known associates. Following the release of the photo of the murder suspects, Istanbul residents began to call the police claiming to have seen Kaşıkçı. He was reportedly seen in his girlfriend's house in Gaziosmanpaşa, and the suspect was brought to the Istanbul Public Security Branch Office in Gayrettepe.After the suspect's testimony, Beratcan's mother Tülay Karakütük and father Ergun Karakütük were summoned to the police station, and the mother was also taken into custody by the police. Beratcan was reported missing on March 9 in Istanbul's Kartal district. The little boy went missing after leaving the school and boarding the school bus. After 15 days of searching, the boy's dead body was found in the Tuzla district. The police released the photos of the school bus driver after security cameras showed that he had failed to drop off Beratcan at the station.
