Ramazan Saban, a fugitive former prosecutor, faces charges of membership in the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ). Saban was one of the prosecutors in the infamous Selam Tevhid case where prosecutors linked to the terrorist group ordered the wiretapping of hundreds of people, including Daily Sabah employees.

The case's name refers to a "terrorist organization" concocted by prosecutors to justify the illegal wiretapping of everyone, from journalists and politicians to academics deemed a threat to the interests of the terrorist group.An indictment by the Ankara Chief Prosecutor's Office asked for prison terms of up to 15 years for Saban, who was dismissed from the judiciary following last year's brutal coup attempt blamed on a small Gülenist junta.

Prosecutors say that Saban personally ordered the wiretapping of 14 people between 2012 and 2013 after allegations that those wiretapped were members of a terrorist group.

An investigation after FETÖ's emergence as a terrorist group in 2013 has revealed that this was a common excuse by the group's infiltrators in law enforcement and the judiciary to wiretap anyone they wanted. More often than not, wiretapping victims were assigned false names in investigations by Gülenist prosecutors in a bid to cover up their illegal wiretapping bid.
