Thirteen people, including police officers and a lawyer were detained on Friday as police cracked down on a gang accused of smuggling migrants.

The suspects were detained in Muğla, a southwestern city that has been popular among migrants seeking to cross into nearby Greek islands and other cities in western Turkey.

The operation follows an operation last week in which 79 migrants were intercepted as they were about to leave for Greece illegally with the aid of gang members.
