DHKP-C militant plotting to assassinate interior minister killed

A member of the terrorist group, the Revolutionary People's Liberation Party-Front (DHKP-C), was killed Tuesday in a shootout with police in Istanbul. The militant, identified as İnanç Özkeskin, was planning an assassination attempt on Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu.

Istanbul police released a statement following the incident, saying Özkeskin was planning "an armed and bomb attack" against Minister Soylu and refused to surrender when police cornered him in a house in the Kadıköy district.

"The suspect was captured dead when he fired upon our officers," the statement read.
