Former intel agents detained

An Ankara court yesterday morning issued arrest warrants against 63 people as part of an operation against former National Intelligence Organization (MİT) personnel fired for links to the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ). In a statement issued, it was said that there 18 suspects were also accused of being senior FETÖ operatives in charge of MİT personnel among those who face arrest.

The police operation launched after the court order covered 21 provinces. The 45 former MİT agents who face arrest were fired after last year's deadly coup attempt on July 15 for links to FETÖ.

The police arrested nine suspects in Ankara. Intra-MİT investigations had uncovered covert links between FETÖ and 87 agents, who were fired from the agency. Later, the MİT had filed criminal complaints against 52 of the former agents.
