Detention warrants issued for 97 over suspected FETÖ ties

An Ankara court issued detention warrants Friday for 97 people working in the army aviation command and other state institutions for having suspected ties to the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ).

In one of the three cases, the court ruled for the detention of 26 soldiers who were involved in the July 15 coup attempt last year.

The court also ordered the detention of 63 people who were working at schools tied to FETÖ and were shut down under the statutory decree passed following the coup attempt. Operations were also launched to apprehend 8 officials at the Education Ministry.

The suspects are accused of using the ByLock mobile app that was allegedly exclusively used by FETÖ members.

The ByLock smartphone app is believed to have been cracked by Turkish security agencies, allowing them to identify tens of thousands of suspected FETÖ supporters.
