Turkish police seize over 5 tons of drugs in last month

Turkish security forces seized more than 5 tons of drugs in nationwide anti-narcotic operations over the last month, the country's police said Sunday.

In a statement, Turkey's Security General Directorate said police made the seizures in anti-narcotics operations between Oct. 21 and Nov. 21.

More than three tons of hashish and nearly 2.5 tons of heroin were seized during the operations, the statement said.

Among the other seized drugs were more than 3 million ecstasy tablets, 16,000 Captagon tablets, 887 kilograms of chemicals, and over 23 kilograms of methamphetamine and six kilograms of cocaine.
