Police forces seized more than 90 kilograms (198 pounds) of heroin and detained two people on drug trafficking charges during recent anti-narcotics operations in eastern Turkey.

The first batch was caught in the southeastern Malatya province after the police officers stopped a suspicious vehicle and discovered 113 packages of 58 kilograms (127 pounds) of heroin hidden in the trunk.

The second operation was conducted in eastern Erzurum province after an anti-drug unit team found 32 kilos and 400 grams (71.4 pounds) of Istanbul-bound heroin in a truck with the help of a sniffer dog.

An Erzurum court arrested one person detained in the operation for smuggling drugs.
