Lebanese robbers caught in Istanbul

Two Lebanese bank robbers were arrested in Istanbul, after they fled Lebanon following a successful heist. The Turkish daily Akşam had reported that the two suspects, Mohammed Khal Sido and Mohammad Ali Yassine, robbed $1 million before fleeing to Turkey. The Vatan newspaper, meanwhile, reported that the incident took place in January.

Lebanese intelligence later found out that the two men had boarded a flight from Beirut to Istanbul. The report claimed that Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri phoned his Turkish counterpart Binali Yıldırım and asked for assistance to locate the suspects.

Turkish authorities located the two suspects at a hotel in Istanbul's Fatih district. Police arrested the duo and recovered $600,000 from their hotel room. The suspects have since been deported to Lebanon.
