Turkey has managed to weed out many Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ) loyalists in the army, but two years after a coup attempt, some 458 officers wanted for their involvement in the bid still remain at large. The country launched an international manhunt after the July 15, 2016 coup attempt by FETÖ infiltrators in the military that killed 250 people. So far, Ankara has secured the extradition of dozens of non-military FETÖ members, but a number of putschist officers have managed to elude justice.

Some 220 land forces officers, 140 officers from naval forces and 98 members of the air forces accused of taking part in the coup attempt and membership of FETÖ are wanted by Turkey. Most of them are believed to be abroad.

Six of these suspects, who were dismissed from the army right after the coup attempt, are generals and admirals. Adm. Mustafa Zeki Uğurlu stands out among them as authorities had already implicated him in a FETÖ case before the coup attempt and had issued an arrest warrant.
