Police in the eastern city of Elazığ detained five Syrian nationals linked to the terrorist group Daesh yesterday. Detention warrants were issued earlier by the local prosecutor's office for unidentified suspects.

Police launched simultaneous operations in the city to capture the suspects who are currently being interrogated and expected to be arrested or released by the local court.

Two years ago, a senior member of Daesh and an "executioner" for the terrorist group were captured in police operations in the city.
