A total of 38 foreign nationals with suspected links to the Daesh terror group were detained Friday in simultaneous raids in Istanbul.

Anti-terror units of the Istanbul Police Department conducted raids at 12 locations in six districts after receiving intelligence that the suspects were preparing a terrorist attack.

Police also seized numerous documents and digital materials containing pro-Daesh propaganda during the counterterrorism operation.

The suspects were referred to the police department for necessary procedures.

Turkey has suffered a series of deadly attacks blamed on Daesh militants, including a New Year's attack at a popular nightclub in Istanbul in the early hours of 2017 that killed 39 people and the country's deadliest terror attack on Oct. 10, 2015 at a peace rally in Ankara that killed 107 people.

Amid fears that Daesh terrorists who fled Syria could hit Europe and Turkey, authorities have heightened crackdowns on the terrorist group with almost daily operations.
