Briton sentenced on terror charges linked to PKK

A court in western Turkey handed down a seven-year sentence to Joseph Andrew Robinson for being a member of the terrorist group PKK. Robinson, a British citizen, was released pending trial in an earlier hearing. He was detained by the police in July in southwestern Turkey's Aydın, along with his girlfriend Mira Yashar Abdülselamoğlu. Abdülselamoğlu was also handed down a one year and ten months prison term. Robinson was banned from traveling abroad before an appeal process was concluded. The sentence of Abdülselamoğlu, who was released earlier, was suspended.
