Turkish police seize cache of illegal weapons in anti-smuggling ops in central Konya province

Turkish security forces seized dozens of unregistered and illegal weapons and ammunitions in an anti-smuggling operation Wednesday in Konya province in central Turkey.

The Provincial Police Department's Organized Crime and Anti-Smuggling Units detained 17 out of 22 suspects in simultaneous operations across Beyşehir district in Konya.

The smugglers were trying to illegally sell weapons, including hunting shotguns, on the internet.

Police seized 37 pistol guns, 81 recolt springs and various shotguns and bullets in the suspect's residents.

Operations are underway to capture five other suspects who were not present in their addresses during the raids.
