Istanbul’s prominent Feshane Congress Center to be moved


Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topbaş announced on Thursday that the municipality has decided to move the Feshane International Fair Center to Istanbul's Yenikapı district from the Eyüp district in order to relieve traffic congestion caused by organizations in Feshane.
Speaking at the opening of Karabük Promotion Days, Topbaş said that the center will be moved to Yenikapı next year and the organizations will be held in a modernized center as Feshane will undergo reconstruction.
Feshane is one of the oldest and most famous places where all kind of events, including congresses, conferences, concerts, and cultural events take place in Istanbul. The center, famous for its Ramadan festivities was built in 1839 with the order of Ottoman Sultan Abdulmecit in order to meet the fes and wool clothing needs of the Ottoman army. After a renovation in 2000, it has become an indispensable address of all the trade, cultural and social organizations.
