University students in Istanbul help Syrian refugee children adapt to life in Turkey

Istanbul Şehir University students hosted Syrian refugee children as part of the "Bir Kardeşim Olsun‏" project on Monday.

The project was designed to help Syrian refugee children overcome the problems they face and ensure their adaptation to a new life and culture.

According to the university's statement, a group of students volunteered to realize the project devoted to Syrian children.

Within the scope of the project, 25 university students acted as 'older brothers or sisters' toward Syrian refugee children between the ages of seven and 12. Every two weeks, the students are organizing meetings and various activities with their 'little brothers and sisters' so they don't miss out on any social or cultural activities due to a lack of opportunities or poverty.

Thanks to the project, jointly realized by the Istanbul Şehir University and Syrian Education Association since March, the children were able to live an "unforgettable day."

After treating the children to some Turkish food and showing them what university life is like, the participants of the project played various games together in the campus' garden.
