Istanbul police launch large scale public security operation


A total of 2,000 police officers conducted a large scale public security operation in Istanbul Friday, targeting 115 sites across all of the city's 39 districts.

Police units seized several unlicensed firearms and a large amount of narcotics during the controls and detained 7 suspects regarding these offenses.

A total of 4,668 people were subject to General Information Gathering (GBT), while 20 people wanted by the police were also detained.

Over 2000 vehicles were subject to traffic control, during which fines worth a total of 87,155 Turkish liras ($ 25,351) were given and 37 vehicles confiscated.
