Strong southwester winds increased the temperatures in northwestern Turkey by some 10 degrees on Saturday, disrupting ferry services as authorities issued flash flood warnings.

Istanbul Sea Buses (IDO) and Bursa Sea Buses (BUDO) canceled ferry services crossing the Marmara Sea, including all ferries departing from and arriving in Istanbul, while the City Lines in Istanbul also canceled several routes.

Southwester winds occasionally disrupt flights in Istanbul's Atatürk and Sabiha Gökçen airports, as the incoming planes fly above the Marmara Sea before landing, but airlines did not issue large-scale cancellations for scheduled flights.

Since the warm southwester winds are expected to bring heavy showers, the Turkish State Meteorological Service (TSMS) issued flash flood and local hail warnings for Istanbul, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ and Bursa provinces.
