5 injured in fire at hotel in Istanbul’s Sultanahmet

At least five people, including one fire fighter, were injured after a fire broke out in Istanbul's Sultanahmet district. The fire started at around 11:45 a.m. in the sauna section of a hotel in Sultanahmet's Alemdar neighborhood.

Fire squads were immediately dispatched to the scene, while several people were stuck in the building due to the heavy smoke.

Three women and one man, who were affected by the smoke, were referred to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

One of the injured people is reportedly in critical condition.

During the rescue operation, one of the fire fighters also got injured.

An investigation has been launched regarding the cause of the fire.
