Ukrainian daredevils ride on top of Istanbul’s metrobus

A group of Ukrainian freerunners on Monday released footage showing them traveling on top of Istanbul's iconic single-lane mass transit bus, known as the metrobus.

Pavel Smirnov, who has made a name for himself in Turkey for his parkour stunts, climbed onto the roof of a metrobus at Okmeydanı station on Tuesday night along with two other freerunners from Ukraine, Sergey Tracer and Artem Aristov.

They then traveled five stops all the way to central Zincirlikuyu station.

Upon arrival to Zincirlikuyu, the daredevils simply jumped off the metrobus, shocking other passengers, and quickly ran into the subway.

It's not the first time Smirnov has tried the stunt. In November 2017, he took a ride on top of a metrobus before being detained and fined by Istanbul's civil traffic authority.

Opened in 2007, Istanbul's metrobus carries some 700,000 passengers daily along its route across the European and Asian sides of the city.
