Two soldiers were killed and four others wounded in a bomb attack in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır late Saturday, officials said. According to the Diyarbakır governorate, an explosive-laden vehicle was detonated as it was passing by an armored army vehicle, which was on its way to Lice district."Two soldiers were killed and four others wounded in the gruesome attack," said the governorate in a statement on Sunday. The governorate said the security forces have launched a wide-scale investigation to find the perpetrators. The wounded soldiers were taken to Dicle University Medical Faculty Hospital. Tensions have remained high in Turkey, mostly in the eastern part of the country, after a group of pro-Kurdish activists was attacked in the southeastern province of Şanlıurfa on July 20. At least 32 people were killed in the ISIS-suspected suicide bombing in Suruç town of Sanliurfa; two days later, two policemen were found shot dead in Ceylanpınar. The PKK claimed responsibility for the killing of the policemen, claiming retaliation for the attack in Suruç. The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the U.S. and the European Union.
