PKK launches attacks in three eastern provinces


PKK carries out attacks in 3 eastern provinces While operations against the terrorist PKK continue apace, militants opened fire on police officers in Mardin, Van and Şırnak. A total of five officers were wounded in the attacks.

The PKK carried out an assault against the regional traffic control bureau of the police department in the Nusaybin district of Mardin at around 10 p.m. with long-barrel weapons. The initial reports say five were injured in the attacks. The injured were taken to Nusaybin State Hospital and an operation was launched in the region to find the suspects.

Another attack was conducted against officers who were dispatched to quash protests held by PKK supporters in the Hacıbekir neighborhood located in the eastern province of Van. The militants opened fire on a police vehicle when officers attempted to intervene in the protests at around 9 p.m. Militants smashed the front window of the vehicle. No one was injured in the incident, and police launched a wide-scale operation.

Earlier in the day, around 3 p.m., there was another attack on a police department, this time located in Şırnak's Cizre district, again with long-barrel weapons. The identified assailants opened fire on the building. No casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.
