Majority of public backs operations against PKK, survey shows
A recent ANAR survey released on Monday showed public support for operations conducted against PKK terrorists standing at 62.1 percent.
The survey was conducted in 26 provinces with 7,143 people through face-to-face interviews, and also included the Kurdish-populated eastern and southeastern provinces.
According to the survey, 77.9 percent of Justice and Development Party (AK Party) supporters and 79.2 percent of the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP) supporters surveyed approve of the operations. Republican People's Party (CHP) supporters in the survey support the operations against the PKK at a rate of 50.6 percent and 4.6 percent of Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) supporters who participated in the survey support the operations.
When asked about what the go
vernment do should, 57.6 percent of the participants said the operations should continue until the PKK lays down its arms and 35.1 percent said the operations should end and talks for the reconciliation process should resume.
