Endangered palm-sized deer born in zoo

One of the smallest hoofed animals in the World, a Java Mouse-deer has been born at a zoo in Spain



SPAIN — A newborn deer, which weighs no more than 100 grams, came to life in a zoo in southern Spain on Thursday. This rare animal, when fully grown, are no bigger than a rabbit and usually do not weigh more than 1 kilogram. They are known through out the World to be extremely intelligent. There are roughly 50 Java mouse-deer in Europe but there numbers are in grave danger due to deforestation throughout Asia.
