Adana to have the biggest museum in the Middle East


Featuring museums, conference halls and movie theaters, Turkey and the Middle East's biggest museum complex is under construction in the Adana province. The massive building is being built in the area where previously stood the National Textile Factory. According to a statement by the Provincial Culture and Tourism Directorate, the "New Adana Museum Complex" is being built upon the suggestion of Tourism and Culture Minister Ömer Çelikover a 68,530-square-meter area which previously housed the National Textile Factory.The statement went on to say that the large complex not only included archeology, city, agriculture, industry, ethnography and children's museums, but also has conference and cinema halls along with recreation areas such as cafes and playgrounds.The creators of the complex are hoping that the museum will be considered "an exemplary museum for Turkey and the world" that will display the artifacts from previous civilizations, reflecting their thoughts, beliefs, art and lifestyle. The opening of the new archeology museum will be the project's first phase. Surrounded with advanced technology, exhibition halls will showcase the artifacts currently kept in storage. Visitors will have the chance to experience the past thanks to modern exhibition methods.The agriculture adventure of Adana will be displayed in the agriculture museum while the industry museum will present important industrial developments. The city Museum will provide information on the history of Adana, the ethnography museum will reveal the cultural heritage of the city. Finally, the children's museum will showcase toys from past to present.
