As the usage of renewable energy sources continues to increase around the world, Sweden has become one of the leading countries in the sector that imports garbage to transform it into energy. Sweden mostly recycles universal waste and uses almost all garbage that is thrown away from houses to produce electricity.Biogas, which is produced after waste is processed with modern techniques, is used for heating and electricity. Located in the southern corner of the country, Linköping is one of the cities that make the most use of biogas. While 65 percent of the energy that Sweden produced last year came from renewable sources such as wind, water and biofuel, the Scandinavian country plans to put an end to the use of fossil fuels by the end of 2030 as a part of the state policy project called A Country without Petroleum.
