Uber offers free transportation to voters for upcoming Turkish general elections

The U.S.-based transportation network service Uber will offer its services for free to voters and disabled citizens for the Nov. 1 elections. On election day, the company, which operates through a smart phone application, will give its customers two rides for free, with the exception of its speed boat service, UberTekne, and UberTaksi. Moreover, the company will offer a special service for disabled and elderly citizens with its exclusive vehicles between 9 a.m. and 7 p.m. and enable them to reach ballot boxes much more easily. For its exclusive service for disabled people, UberENGELSİZ, the company joined forces with medical transportation company Portmobile. UberENGELSİZ will use special vehicles to transfer disabled and elderly people with wheelchairs. Commenting on the subject, Uber general manager in Turkey, Neyran Bahadırlı, said: "Our company aims to make our customers' lives easier and offer them alternatives for fast and safe travel. We want to make the voting process easier by providing free rides to our customers in Istanbul. Moreover, we want Istanbul to be accessible to everyone with our UberENGELSİZ service." Uber users can benefit from the campaign by writing "OYVERTURKIYE" (Vote Turkey) to the promotion area. New users should sign up for the application by using the same key word.
