Vice Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmuş kicks off the Social Change Symposium tomorrow. Prime Minister Professor Ahmet Davutoğlu will deliver the main symposium speech on Saturday. Turkey has been undergoing intense, comprehensive change over the last 50 years. İnsan ve Medeniyet Hareketi (İMH) (Humanity and Civilization Movement) is organizing the symposium where every detailed aspect of social change will be scrutinized.Until now, Western society has been regarded as an ideal model for theories of social change that focus on changes in Western societies. However, each society needs unique theories of social change with regard to their own historical developments and processes of transformation. İMH thinks that the notion of social change should be discussed and defined by various disciplines and brings the matter to the agenda through the symposium.Social, economic, political and demographic changes in society and the resulting cause and effect relations will be discussed in detail at the symposium, which will be held on March 25-27 at Bahariye Mawlawi House in Istanbul's Eyüp district. The symposium's themes are Social Change and Economics, Religion, Culture, Politics, Demography, Education, Technology, Mass Communication Media, Family, Women, Youth, Migration and Urbanization.
