Organized by İZFAŞ, under the auspices of İzmir Metropolitan Municipality, the 85th edition of the İzmir International Fair will kick off on Aug. 26 and run until Sept. 4. This year's fair will turn İzmir into a hub for arts and culture and host free workshops, and international exhibitions for painting and sculpture along with a film festival.Art Street will be part of the fair and will host workshops geared for people of every age. While the Circus Workshop will teach participants the details of putting on a circus show, the Graffiti Workshop, Pre-School Workshop, Wooden Toy Coloring Workshop, Jewelry Design Workshop and Photography Workshop will offer their services to those who are interested between 06:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m at the fair. Moreover, children will have a chance to discover their talents at the Nerf Game event and the Pınar Painting Workshop will offer guidance of professional educators to participants. Ege University will also provide educative training for creating new artistic forms by using various materials that can be found in our everyday lives.As a part of the International Art Days events, three different exhibitions will be held throughout the fair. The St. Petersburg Art Days Group Exhibition will take place at the Painting and Sculpture Museum located within the fair complex. The African Cultures Exhibition, which is to be held with contributions from the Honorary Consul of South Africa Tamer Taşkın and Honorary Consul of Botswana Işıl Taşkın Kumcu, will open at the Hall Number 4. The "Garden of Living Creatures," an exhibition of patterns drawn by director and scriptwriter Ümit Ünal, will be open for visit at the İzmir Art Center until Sept. 4.The İzmir International Fair also commemorates the veterans of Turkish Cinema with the 16th edition of "Cinema, Here Festival," creating a bridge between the past and present of the Turkish Cinema. This year, Ahmet Mekin and Serap Aksoy will be guests of honor at the festival and the Young Actor Honorary Awards will be presented to Nazan Kesal and Onur Saylak. "Cinema, Here" will host 12 different film screenings, one workshop, Hazerfan Short Film Selection and Pitching Platform. Apart from the İzmir premieres of director Ahu Öztürk's "Toz Bezi" (Dust Cloth) and Mustafa Kara's "Kalandar Soğuğu" (The Cold of Kalandar). Apart from the premieres, "Maryland," "Fuocoammare," "United States of Love," "Truman," "24 Weeks," "The Eye of Istanbul," "One Breath," "Things to Come," "Remember" and "A War" will be screened during the festival.For the first time this year, the festival will host "A Creative Production Workshop and Pitching Platform will be organized in collaboration with Hazerfan Film Gallery, aiming to reflect the concept of innovation to the art of cinema. The project's main objective is to share film production ideas of the ever-changing world of cinema with young film makers and will bring together short film producers, film makers and those who are passionate about short films. The participants of the projects will also have a chance to present their works on the last day of the fair, on Sept. 4. The jury of A Creative Production Workshop and Pitching Platform will be composed of prominent Turkish director Tayfun Pirselimoğlu, who won awards at the international film festivals and produced artworks in literature and plastic arts; the founder of Yeni Cinemacılık and the vice chairman of SE-YAP (Cinema Producers Profession Union) Sevil Demirci, who also won many awards both at domestic and international film festivals and vice president of İZFAŞ Hasan Tuncağ, who graduated from Department of Cinema and TV at Dokuz Eylül University.
