If it hadn't been for a kind-hearted man, this vulnerable little kitten could have been crushed to death on a busy motorway in Kaliningrad, Russia by speeding and careless cars.

The footage of the ordeal shows the teeny kitten trapped in the middle of the motorway, with an Audi 4x4 sending it tumbling across the road after falling off the the wheel arch of the car where it had been sleeping, local media reported.

Many cars and trucks sped past the injured and shaken kitten, missing it by only a few inches.

Although some swerved to avoid running over the kittten, some vehicles are even seen driving straight over it.

After some time, the hero of the story stepped in to save the day; spotting the stranded kitten and stopping his car to pick it up out of the road.

He is seen carrying the kitten back to his car, where he hands it to a passenger.

After being checked and treated by a vet, the kitten has reportedly found a home.
