Christmas bazaar at CIRCUIT Istanbul to bring festive fun

CIRCUIT Istanbul, an arts and culture space in Kadıköy on the Asian side of Istanbul, is set to hold its second annual Holiday Bazaar from Dec. 9 -10.

The two-day event will be a perfect opportunity for some holiday gift-shopping, meeting the city's foreign artists and celebrating the festive season with some tasty cookies and apple cider.

The event will bring an authentic Christmas market spirit featuring arts and crafts made by Istanbul-based foreign and local creatives, a musical performance by Martina Pavone and the Istanbul International A Cappella Choir (IIACC), featuring the best Christmas melodies.

This year the organizers of the event are getting ready to host a large group of expat and local artists like Milano-Istanbul-based artist Anna Spreafico, graphic designer and Istanbul Biennial participant Liza Büyüktaşçıyan, sculptor Cecile Alexandre, permaculturist Rana Söylemez, photographer Isauro Torres and jewelry designer Melis Yarman. Small Projects Istanbul - for Syria, a non-profit organization helping refugees in Istanbul - will bring handwoven items made by displaced Syrians residing in the city.

The bazaar maintains awareness of mindful gift-giving and on sustainable gift packaging. A percentage of the money earned from the bazaar will be donated to a relevant non-profit charity.

CIRCUIT Istanbul, formerly Closet Circuit, is an arts and culture space that connects people through gatherings, exhibitions and creative education. The programs encourage self-inquiry, environmental awareness, and community mindfulness.

The free bazaar will be open from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 and from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 10.
