Hair that cares: Barbers offer free services to children in Turkish villages


A group of 12 volunteer barbers, led by Mehmet Özcan, have come together in the Anatolian province of Iğdır to offer free haircuts to village children in the area.

Özcan, a photographer, organized the project online to create social awareness of the children, who have no physical or financial means to get to the city during the heavy snowfall. . The volunteer barbers visited the villages in the winter.

The organizer said that many people offered to help him after he shared the photos he took of the children while traveling around the villages.

"We go to the village schools together and give haircuts to everyone, our goal is to reach at least 500 children. We will go to all the villages we can," Özcan said.Another volunteer barber, Ferhat Ataş, pointed out that the children living in villages were not able to come to the cities because of the weather difficulties, and that the project aimed to give haircuts to all the children in need.

Barber Abil Askerov added, "No matter how many students, we will reach each and every one of them."
