Through the Ministry of Health's "Project for Promoting Physical Activity" 83 specially equipped bicycles for visually handicapped students have been distributed in the Sarıyer district of Istanbul.

Partnering with the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, the ministry presented students with tandem bicycles that they could use with their parents or friends.

Sarıyer AK Party District Chairman Salih Bayraktar and the families of the students attended the distribution activity, which took place at the Kilyos Veysel Vardal Vision Impaired Middle School.

Bayraktar explained to the students that his father also lived with vision impairment in the last three years of his life, "My father never broke away from life. He always made the most beautiful jokes. I see this quality in the students at the school. It is our duty to do more for them."

School principal, Müjdat Kalkan, expressed that it was important for the children to ride bikes and participate in sports together with their families and that the project would be widespread throughout the country.

Caner Güneş, an 8th grade student at the school, said that he was very happy to have the chance to ride a bike and to be able to show that people with visual impairment were still able to ride bicycles.
