New York set the rhythm, London brought its eccentricity, and Milan reminded us of the power of Italian craftsmanship. Now, as Milan Fashion Week comes to a close, fashion month moves to its final – and perhaps most anticipated – destination: Paris.

But before Paris gives us the final word on Spring/Summer 2027, some of the season’s biggest messages are already becoming clear.

Because Fashion Week is no longer simply about what happens on the runway. Increasingly, the most interesting question is: What will we actually see on the streets next?

Return of the skirt

If Milan made one thing clear, it is that the skirt is ready for a major comeback.

At Prada, the message could hardly have been stronger: every look in the collection was built around a skirt. Pleated, A-line, embellished, leather or deliberately simple, the skirt became a canvas for personality.

And this is exactly the kind of runway idea that can quickly reach the street. Expect statement skirts worn with very uncomplicated pieces – a knit, a white shirt, a T-shirt or an oversized jacket.

The new luxury may be less about a complete look and more about one exceptional piece.

Fashion becomes less perfect

For several seasons, social media has encouraged a very controlled way of dressing: quiet luxury, clean silhouettes, neutral wardrobes and carefully coordinated accessories.

Spring/Summer 2027 is beginning to challenge that.

Across London and Milan, we have seen more layering, unexpected color combinations, checks, prints, relaxed tailoring and clothes that appear to have been chosen instinctively rather than according to a formula.

There is a sense that fashion wants to have fun again.

Color returns

The streets around the Milan shows offered flashes of purple and pale pink alongside leopard print and statement pieces.

After seasons dominated by beige, black, cream and grey, color suddenly feels fresh again.

But the new approach is not necessarily head-to-toe color. A vivid skirt underneath a neutral jacket, an unexpected shoe or a bright accessory may be enough.

The interesting part is the element of surprise.

Femininity – but with contrast

Another important direction is the return of visible femininity.

Skirts, transparency, embellishment, romantic fabrics and decorative details are appearing again, but they are not being styled in an overly precious way.

A beautiful skirt can be worn with a simple sweater. A romantic dress can meet an oversized jacket. Delicate craftsmanship can sit beside something intentionally casual.

That tension between the extraordinary and the everyday may become one of the defining ideas of the season.

Street is shaping the runway

Perhaps the biggest change is that the relationship between runway and street is no longer one-directional.

Designers are looking at how real people dress, while people outside the shows are interpreting runway fashion almost instantly.

Milan made that relationship particularly visible this season: fashion was repeatedly placed within the context of everyday life rather than presented as something completely separate from it.

And that makes the next stage particularly interesting.

Now, Paris

Paris Fashion Week begins as Milan ends, bringing the final chapter of the Spring/Summer 2027 collections.

Paris may confirm what we have already seen – or completely disrupt it.

That is the beauty of fashion month. New York proposes an idea, London plays with it, Milan refines it, and Paris often gives us the final conversation.

So far, the message of Spring/Summer 2027 feels surprisingly human.

More personality. More color. More craftsmanship. More contrast. Less perfection.

By the time Paris closes, we may know the season’s defining silhouettes.

But the streets will ultimately decide which ones survive.
