Car bombs kill 17 in Iraq's capital, Baghdad
Authorities in Iraq say two car bomb attacks at a security checkpoint and a commercial street have killed 17 people in Shiite areas of the capital, Baghdad.Police officials say the first attack happened Saturday night when a suicide bomber rammed his explosive-laden car into a security checkpoint in Baghdad's northern district of Khazimiyah, killing 10 people and wounding 25.Later, authorities say a car bomb explosion on a commercial street killed seven people and wounded 18 in northwestern Baghdad.All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief journalists.Iraq is in its worst crisis since the 2011 withdrawal of U.S. troops as militant groups led by ISIS have seized a third of the country.
